Tenant Verification in Karachi: Documents, Process and Online Registration

In Sindh, when a house, flat or hostel room is rented, the owner, tenant or property dealer must register the tenant's details with the police. This is required under the Sindh Information of Temporary Residents Act 2015. This guide explains the steps in simple words.

سندھ میں جب مکان، فلیٹ یا ہاسٹل کا کمرہ کرائے پر دیا جائے تو مالک، کرایہ دار یا پراپرٹی ڈیلر کو کرایہ دار کی معلومات پولیس کے پاس رجسٹر کرانا ضروری ہے۔ یہ سندھ انفارمیشن آف ٹیمپریری ریزیڈنٹس ایکٹ 2015 کے تحت لازمی ہے۔

Documents required / ضروری کاغذات

• Original and copy of the house owner's CNIC / مالک مکان کا اصل شناختی کارڈ اور کاپی
• Original and copy of the tenant's CNIC / کرایہ دار کا اصل شناختی کارڈ اور کاپی
• Original and copy of the rent agreement / کرایہ نامہ (اصل اور کاپی)
• Affidavit / حلف نامہ
• Photograph of the tenant / کرایہ دار کی تصویر

How to register / رجسٹریشن کا طریقہ

1. At the police station: visit the concerned or a nearby police station, or a facilitation center, with the documents above. Police have stated the registration is free and is usually done on the spot in about 15 to 20 minutes, and you receive a certificate.
   متعلقہ یا قریبی تھانے یا فیسیلیٹیشن سینٹر جا کر مذکورہ کاغذات جمع کرائیں۔ پولیس کے مطابق یہ مفت ہے اور تقریباً 15 سے 20 منٹ میں ہو جاتی ہے، اور سرٹیفکیٹ ملتا ہے۔
2. Online: Sindh Police also offers an online tenant registration portal called TRUST (tenantregister.sindhpolice.gov.pk).
   سندھ پولیس کا آن لائن ٹیننٹ رجسٹریشن پورٹل (TRUST) بھی موجود ہے۔

Why it matters / یہ کیوں ضروری ہے

Skipping registration can bring legal trouble for the owner. A registered tenant also gives the owner a record if the police ever ask questions about the property.
رجسٹریشن نہ کرانے پر مالک مکان قانونی مشکل میں آ سکتا ہے۔ رجسٹرڈ کرایہ دار کا ریکارڈ مالک کے پاس محفوظ رہتا ہے۔
